ABOUT MARY HALVERSON SCHOFIELD
Mary Halverson Schofield holds degrees in secondary education and anthropology from the University of New Mexico. She has taught anthropology, English, music, social studies and special education on the high school and junior high school levels.
Her first book, "River of Champions," the compelling story of the 1956 Thief River Falls Prowler Hockey Team, was a finalist in the Minnesota Book Awards. It received rave reviews from many newspapers and sportscasters. The popular "River of Champions" is in its third printing. Ms. Schofield has recently optioned the screenplay "River of Champions" to a film production company. Her second book, "Henry Boucha, Star of the North," about the legendary Henry Boucha from Warroad, Minnesota, is a heart-warming story of a native American boy from the fringes of northern Minnesota who took the hockey world by storm.
She is working on a fictional series for girls 10-14. The first book, also based on hockey, is finished and will be out this summer.
Ms. Schofield currently resides with her husband in Minnetonka, MN.
